Today was our first full day in Cape Town and after walking around last night in what is the “happening” place where all the clubs and bars are I did not know what exactly to suspect. Walking around the night before was a very big shock to me after walking a few yards from the door of the Daddylong Legs hotel I quickly realized that we were staying in the party area of Cape Town. That night I wish we had been in some other hotel because while everyone else had neat trendy hip cool whatever other adjectives you want to use my room was scary and I thought it was haunted…I’m serious though I think that room is haunted because when I went to bed my lights began to flicker and my closet door slowly crept open to reveal the black lace dress resembling that of what a which would wear and the shoes. In my room which was basically on the street could hear everything that was going on the horns of the cabs blaring, the clubs and their bases bumping until late into the night and the fights of the girlfriends and boyfriends it was not until late that night that I was able to fall asleep. Today though we woke up and took a quick walk to breakfast then right down the street to Street Wires where they take the trash wires from the city and make beautiful art with them. My favorite pieces that they had were a life size woman in what I was told traditional African dress ware and the life size lion that they had. Now these people are professional but all the help could not help us make the hearts and stars they had help set up for us although Karen being the artist she is took to the beading and making of the crafts with ease. After leaving street wires we went to Table Mountain the highest point in Cape Town and its possibly one of if not the oldest mountains in the world. On top of Table Mountain at first you couldn’t see anything below because the clouds covered the town below but after walking around the clouds moved on to reveal the city below. I cant remember the last time I saw something some beautiful you look out and see a beautiful mountain range and then a glimmering ocean of sparkling blue water shimmering in the sunlight it was a beautiful thing to see. After going down to the boardwalk and eating a South African burger we got some time to shop so Mom, Dad, M.E. and James you all are taken care of David I am clueless for you.
Today was an interesting day we got to see yet another part of South Africa we had seen the Coast the forests and the townships but now we were in a big city a big party city that was a new thing for all of us to see the partying side of South Africa ill end this part with what I think is the quote of the day in referring to the Fifa world cup that is coming next year. “South Africa is a noisy place” “You aint heard nothing yet”.
